So do I need a APC like W5 to bring the coating back to life? My theory after a little research is that though the car appears clean, my gentle wash technique has 'clogged' up the surface with contaminants that can't be seen and is reducing the water hydrophobic effect. I assume the coatings should be lasting much, much longer. However over time the water beading has all but gone, and the leaf blower which would once almost entirely dry the car doesn't work anywhere near as well now. This has worked well and the paint looks great. My wash regime has been very strict and careful with only Gtechniq products.Ģ) W1 G-Wash, 2 bucket method with grit guards using the Gtechniq WM2 wash mitt.ģ) Drying with a leaf blower, then removing excess with MF4 drying towel.
However over time the water beading has faded away. I had my new car professionally detailed and ceramic coated by Gtechniq accredited detailer last Summer.
